The History of Wright County Children's Home
In 1992 Judge Al Turner put together a group of community leaders to complete a feasibility study to determine if there was a need for a children's shelter in Wright County. When it was determined that there was indeed a need for such a facility, the planning, fundraising, and organizing began in earnest. Over a period of 10 years approximately $250,000.00 was raised, and in addition to a Community Betterment Block Grant the vision finally had the necessary funding. The home was built and the first child was admitted to our program on April 2, 2003. Since then, hundreds of children have been served from several counties in Missouri.
