WCCH is a 8,100 square foot home sitting on 8 beautiful acres just inside the city limits of Norwood, MO. It features the comfort and security of a private bedroom for up to 12 residents, a living room, dining areas, kitchen, spacious basement recreational area with table-tennis, pool, air hockey, games and an outdoor recreational area that includes basketball, volleyball, a playground, and other activities.
WCCH is licensed by the Missouri Department of Social Services Children's Division and can take children from every county in the state of Missouri. We accept children who are currently in the legal custody of the state of Missouri. We work closely with the child's caseworker and the treatment team to help meet the immediate needs of the child.
In 1992 Judge Al Turner put together a group of Community Leaders to complete a feasibility study to determine if there was a need for a children's shelter in Wright County. When it was determined that there was indeed a need for such a facility, the planning, fundraising, and organizing began in earnest. Over a period of 10 years approximately $250,000.00 was raised, and in addition to a Community Betterment Block Grant the vision finally had the necessary funding. The home was built and the 1st child was admitted to our program on April 2, 2003. Since then, hundreds of children have been served from over 40 counties in Missouri and several other states.
